BERNINA Artista Embroidery Instructional DVD for the models 165, 170, 180. It was converted from a VHS by me (April 3, 2009) and burned to a Printable Inkjet DVD). Comes in a paper sleeve. Approximate running time 45 minutes. Great way to learn how to use your embroidery machine. New.
The Bernina Embroidery DVD also mentions transferring embroidery files between computer and embroidery machine, with the help of a serial cable, either to a Bernina Personal Design card inserted in the embroidery module or into the memory of the machine itself. Artlink is the software to use or the Bernina Designer software, which can also convert other embroidery file types to ART which no other software can do. Artlink can only transfer, not convert. These Artista models use the ART embroidery file format. The third option would be a Bernina Reader/Writer which uses the Bernina Personal Design card to hold the designs. It also uses a serial cable to the computer. One needs a computer with a serial port!
I bought the VHS a while ago used on Ebay, so the quality of conversion is not quite the same as from a brand new, unopened VHS, but still enjoyable. Many of my past buyers are very happy to be able to learn from the DVD I converted it to.
The Bernina serial Card Writer/Reader is very rare but can be found sometimes on Ebay. Serial cables are the 9 prong, one end male, the other female, they can be found easy. Artlink version 6 is now for free to download from the Bernina website. Happy embroidering!
If problems playing it, please try a lens cleaner CD: http://www.ehow.com/how_2036275_clean-lens-dvd.html
